Biography

John T. Norton was a prominent merchant in the firm of Corning and Norton from 1825-1829. He was a financial investor in, and served as President of, the New York Central Railroad. He was elected president of the American Anti-Slavery Society in 1839 and 1840. He also served in the Connecticut legislature.
