Biography

"John H. Bowers, Esq., died at his residence in Glen Wild on the 16th instant, aged 63 years. For nearly forty years, Mr. B. was a prominent citizen of this town, and was actively engaged as a merchant, lumberman and farmer. He was also an active politician of the democratic school, and at one time represented this county in the Assembly. Kind-hearted, and of remarkable fidelity to his friends, he was always considered an honest man and a valuable citizen. His disease was cancer, from which he suffered many years with patience and fortitude."
