Seems to be connected to both William Henry Seward and Benjamin Jennings Seward. Henry wrote to John Gage as seen in 18400407WHS_JohnGage1 where Gage was to relay a message to Benjamin Jennings Seward regarding business in Chautauqua County. On his Find A Grave entry it states, "Probably the father of Philander GAGE also b here died young in 1850 both he and wife Sybbil are aged 64 yrs b NY son Isaac B. GAGE, is 33 John came to Ripley in 1819 and died on the farm he began that year the Baptist Union Burying Grounds were on land owned by John Gage he sold July 7, 1843 for $20 part of lot 65, 3rd Township, 15th range same deeded and designed for a public burying ground." He lived in Ripley, New York.
