Mary Stansbury worked as a teacher at the New York Institution for the Deaf and Dumb from 1819 to 1832 where her brother, Rev. Abraham O. Stansbury, was the superintendent from 1818 to 1821. In 18410725FMS_WHS1, Frances tells Henry of Miss Stansbury's death and mentions her and her brother's involvement with a Deaf and Dumb Asylum.
