Esther R. Perry was the youngest daughter of Miles H. Perry and Jane Abigail Robinson Perry who lived in Auburn.
She and her sister Ellen were acquaintances of Fanny, who refers to them in her letter of November 17, 1861 to her father, William Henry Seward. Fanny writes that she, Ellen and Esther had spent several evenings together making "ditty bags" for the Aid Society that their mothers were involved with, to be distributed to Union soldiers.
According to the 1860 U.S. Census, Esther was living in Auburn, and after her eldest sister, Henrietta Perry Gray, was widowed, Henrietta lived with Esther in Auburn according to the 1900 U.S. Census. Esther appears in the death records of Roanoke County as widowed at the time of her death in 1938.
