According to Find A Grave: Owen Lovejoy was " He was one of America's most influential anti-slavery activists before and during the Civil War, and a trusted ally of President Abraham Lincoln."
A prominent member of the Underground Railroad, and in 1856 he was first elected to congress, as a congressman from Illinois. He served until his death in 1864.
