Biography

Charles E Quigley was the son of Margaret and James Quigley. He lived in Auburn, N.Y.. He enlisted in the Union army on April 29, 1861, and was mustered to serve two years. He died February 18, 1862 at Hancock, Maryland because of an overdose of Laudanum. It is probably that this overdose was administered by Dr. Dimon, as Frances complains in her letter to Lazette on February 27, 1862, that "Dr Dimon's carelessness is very atrocious."
