John Ledyard Hodge

Biography
John L. Hodge was the US Consul at Marseilles, France in 1851-1852. A number of letters sent from him to various other political figures during this time are published online, including information that makes it seem as if he had a shaky relationship with Lajos Kossuth, Governor-President of the Kingdom of Hungary during the 1848-49 revolution. In a letter from Frances Miller Seward to Lazette Miller Worden on February 22, 1852, Frances describes him as "a good sort of a man as the wor[l]d judges people but he is rather fussy."
