Excerpt: "FRANK, AUGUSTUS, (nephew of William Patterson of New York and George Washington Patterson), a Representative from New York; born in Warsaw, Wyoming County, N.Y., July 17, 1826; attended the common schools; engaged in mercantile pursuits; director and vice president of the Buffalo & New York City Railroad Co.; delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1856; elected as a Republican to the Thirty-sixth, Thirty-seventh, and Thirty-eighth Congresses (March 4, 1859-March 3, 1865); was not a candidate for renomination in 1864; director of Wyoming County National Bank in 1865; member of the State constitutional convention in 1867 and 1868; one of the managers of the Buffalo State Hospital for the Insane at Buffalo, N.Y., 1870-1882; organized the Bank of Warsaw in 1871 and served as president until his death; director of the Rochester Trust & Safe Deposit Co.; State commissioner for the preservation of public parks; member of the board of directors of the Buffalo, Rochester & Pittsburgh Railroad; delegate at large to the State constitutional convention in 1894; died in New York City April 29, 1895; interment in Warsaw Cemetery, Warsaw, N.Y." Referenced in Fanny Seward's 1862-1863 diary as a dinner guest of her father William H. Seward in Washington, D.C.
