Biography

Fletcher and his three brothers, James, Joseph, and John, founded the publishing company, Harper & Brothers, in 1833. Fletcher served as the general executive officer of the company. Harper & Brothers was well known for its periodical publications of the Harper's New Monthly Magazine (1850), Harper's Weekly (1857), and Harper's Bazar (1867).
