John Gordon Kennedy served in the British diplomatic service from 1857-1905. In 1864, he was listed as a third secretary for the British Diplomatic Corps based in Washington, D.C. Frances "Fanny" Seward references speaking with him at a social gathering in Washington, D.C. in her 1862-1863 diary.
