Biography
Catherine Kelley appears in several letters between Frances Seward and Mary Peabody Mann in 1856 concerning her employment in various households. Kelley is the subject of much concern for the two women resulting from her unstable domestic situation due to a transient husband and the care of her child. In a later later, written by Rev. Austin Craig of Blooming Grove, NY, dated July 14, 1859, she is reported living in Craig's household, presumably as a domestic servant. The letter reports that her husband Patrick is employed at a nearby farm and her son attends school.
