Mentioned in a letter from Frances Seward to Augustus Seward July 19, 1853, "Mr Segoine lost a son (Edward) on Saturday- he was buried yesterday." Edward was 14 at the time of his death. William Seward Jr refers to General Jesse Segoine and his appointment to Colonel in his letter dated July 17, 1862.
