My dear Papa
It so long since we heard direct from Florida
we do not know to construe the silence we fear so much
wet weather has brought sickness into our family – and
if this had been the case we are sure some one of the
family would have given some intimation of it – a letter
from Washington some time was last rec^d –
I have recovered my health and enjoy it much I am sure
I never knew so well how to prise – it seems of more
value than anything beside – I cannot drink a draught
of cold water without thinking how great the privilege
after one has been deprived of it – I think I never had so
very sore a throat but after the application of the third
blister I was soon relieved, altho I took cold water and
drinks continuously it did not have any effect on the calomel –
I have been talking to my Brother about looking out for an
opportunity to return to the country – but he does not
give me much encouragement – when the Weather gets
settled I shall urge the subject – & write if papa will meet
me at N.B. – I wrote for my Leghorn hat & some spring
clothes but I guess I can do without them it is so cold
I can wear my coat & my callash must answer the pur-
pose to save my better hat – but perhaps Papa
did not get the letter in which I desired Papa
to send me some money to pay for my Hat &c
if Papa pleases –
My Brother Sister & Augustus wish to be remembered to
Papa Ma & grandma –
