Bargain Town, March 26^th —
My dear Brother,
I have been trying the last two
weeks to find an hour well enough to write
you a few lines, but, when I felt tolerable my
children seemed to require all my strength.
I was very well for three weeks after my ——
but on the third & the day after Mahlon left
home for Washington I was seisedce with a chill
and have been a good deal unwell ever since with
swollen face &c. I hope now I shall get about soon
again. Mahlon spent a few days at Washington
& one or two in Phila did not reach home until
Sat eve'g a long two weeks to me. I have a nice little
boy grows very fast is midling good with dark hair
& blue black eyes & named “Francis Allyn” tell my
Sister Mrs F. A. here is a namesake. Augustus loves
him almost to death, he ^Augustus^ grows astonishingly, his
cheeks are as red as a rose, talks all about it ——
we have hateful March weather, but no “freshets” ——
I hope your little family are well, you do not tell
me that you will bring them to Cape Island &
Bargain Town this summer, you must, I shall

wish to see you too bad – & it will do Freddy
good to put him in the surf
Uncle says your speech is a fine one & I dare not
say what else you will think I am too comm-
municative, but he speaks in very high terms of
you. Ithink but you know what I always
think of anything you do
My “baby” cries – my love to F & tell her to
kiss the children, you would make them cry —
