My Dear S
In the bustle & confusion of our court of com[ mon ]
Reason: pleas
at the suggestion of my friend Jonas M Wheeler
for fear that I may forget this request I write you to say
he wants to be sergeant at arms: Granger
all he can for him, Sibley
as you know the man, and know him to be good and
true — (and he is better and truer than you know him) may
I hope that you will do all you can for him
Weed
Granger will write Weed. Will you also? — I have
written to Isaac S Miller
a line
Wheeler belongs to a clique now. upon which a
most salutary feeling might be wrought. were he to be in
Albany one Winter: they are good men & true, all, but
I think they would see some things differently were one
of them to spend the Winter in the focus of Albany
All well. Lazette
raised a Negress — not heard from Auburn this week
Sibley left on Saturday: have a long letter to write to you
