Monday evening
Dr Henry
I am distressed to learn
that P. JVanH
is recd from J.D.
delay grows more & more embar-
rassing.
Peter Loucks
gistrate & Commissioner from Gerry
asserted last week that he had
been at the office & demfanded
his mortgage
him – that he offered to bet $500
with me that I could not pro-
duce it. which I dare not
accept – &c &c.
To which, in answer to a
letter to me, Col Young
self & the other clerks replyed

that he said not one word to
me about either “mortgage” or
“bet” when here a few days since
& that he has not been here
but once in three months.
This falsehood will bring us 100
votes at least.
Things looks well – our
Conservative friends are returned
and are perfectly delighted.
Pray ask your scribe
send us a corrected list of
the estimated majorities of the
different counties.
Yours as ever
BJ Seward
