Dear Seward
We are all well, and the whole town is expecting
you here. By the way I write this note to request you to say
to Judge Conklin
take up his abode with us during the circuit here.
The judge is not an epicure I trust and
we will endeavor otherwise to make him comfortable[ . ]
Reason: Let us
know what the Judge says[ . ]
Reason: Truly
Note. We have all tendered to Mr Spencer
dream he declares it. He is very sensibly affected by his
removal and could not muster fortitude enough to take leave
of all his friends at once. The correspondence will be published[ . ]
Reason:
His letter is one of the most beautiful ones you ever read, and
the compliment paid him has been delicate, and most sincere.
He has been heaping his kindnesses on me, to that extent
that they oppress me. conscious as I am how much
they exceed my deserts: He is a truly great, and good
man.
