Albany Dec. 9. 1839.
My dear Jennings,
I have made an arrangement with Mr Blatchford
Birth: 1820-03-09 Death: 1893-07-07
for
discounting the $9000 note of the Am. Trust Co. You will therefore please
inclose it to him by mail. With the avails as soon as received I will repay
you the $1000 advanced by you and will pay the $1500 acceptance now in
the Bank at maturity
We are all well and I trust you are less busy and harassed
than I. I have risen at four this morning to see my troops set off to quell
the insurrection in Guilderland among the Patroons tenants – I have sent the
militia of the city. If they succeed it will be well. If not I shall send some
2000 or 3000 men there within the week. Applicants for office are more numerous
than the leaves. — Yours Faithfully
William H. Seward.
