This letter was included in a letter from Frederick William Seward to Lazette Miller Worden on January 31, 1840.
Dear Sis, we are in
the gall of bitterness and the
bonds of affliction – how
thankful I shall be when
the next three days have
gone by – it is Tuesday
afternoon – I am waiting
for Mrs Horner
Birth: 1813 Death: 1873-04-29
who is to
come and help me
make some arrangements
for tomorrow – We have
a fine day and good sleighing –
Worden
Birth: 1797-03-06 Death: 1856-02-16
was here last evening
I offered him your letter but
he said I must tell him
what was in it – Gus
Birth: 1826-10-01 Death: 1876-09-11
has
been sick to day in consequence
of eating some corn cakes
into which a small
quantity of buckwheat had
accidentally found its way
his eyes were badly swollen
and his throat very troublesome
during the night – he is
better to day but did not
go to school – your own
Sister
