Friday afternoon
My dear Henry,
I am very sorry to say that I
cannot meet you in New York — dear little Willie
continues tolerably well - but Mrs Benedict
has come to the conclusion that she must
return home immediately to fulfil her engagements
there — she only came with the condition that
she should return the 7th of June — meeting with
a new nurse is out of the question could I
supply her place immediately - but it is useless
to trouble you with particulars — I must make
my arrangements to return home next week - three
weeks would barely suffice for me to arrange my
affairs here as I wish — Should you be detained
longer than next Tuesday will you send Fred
on that day - put him on board the Albany
under the care of John Top
lonely - you cannot imagine how much I miss Fred—
I trust you will see Mrs Webb

how much I regret not being able to visit her at this
time - make my compliments to all good friends —
kiss Freddy for me - your own Frances —
