Albany July 24th 1840.
My dear George,
Your letter of the 22d was duly received. I thank you for the
very gratifying information it contains. I have the pleasure to inform you that sim-
ilar information has been received from almost every convention which has
been held and nothing different has been heard from any county in the
State. There are many strange occurrences in politics but this general kind-
ness after the exciting times and fearful responsibilities through which we
have passed seems most strange of all.
I entirely agree with you that Mr Burt
and more than that I am fully of the opinion that he ought to be one
of the Electors at large. He deserves it and it would be a compliment
to him in the close of his honored life.
I have just returned from Auburn where I have spent four weeks
in repairing my health which was miserably worn out during the
winter and Spring. I left Mrs Seward all very

well and very happy. Make very affectionate regard to Frances
her two mothers
Unknown Birth: 1780-10-05 Death: 1869-06-28 and believe me faithfully
