My dear Mrs Seward,
Your favor of yesterday I received
with pleasure, this afternoon. I regret your unwillingness
to allow me the pleasure of attending to the little matters
of business you left unfinished. I beg you to consider it
no “trouble” but quite the reverse. Had I known where to find
the dress maker I should have sent to her last week.
Pray give me her address and I will see her immediately.
I am quite sorry about Fred's clothes. The cloth, I pur-
chased, as you wished and thought I had found the color
Frederick wanted. How does the cloth suit you? The
tailors bill I did not pay. It was $ 5:50 and I was not
certain as to your agreement. Your cap is here and is
quite pretty, I think. If you will send me the clothes
I will see Mr Francis and probably Mr Blatchford
will be going to Albany soon and can take all the
articles with him.
I think of your short visit with much pleasure
and hope it may be repeated in the Spring. How is
Master Willy? Quite happy I doubt not that his
hard evnings are ended. I have had much excitement

as you know, since you left New York and not being as
philosophic as yourself, it affected my health somewhat
and with the addition of a cold made me for a day or two
quite ill. I am much better and able to take the air.
I congratulate you upon the safe return of Mr Seward.
I trust we may soon triumph in the news of his re election.
I have felt solicitious that the Whigs should carry this
City. I was quite desirous to be revenged. Persecution
has not made me very amiable.
I mourn to deprive you of my good son
but am selfish enough to long for his return.
My little girls speak of M^r Seward and Fred &
Willy frequently. They are as well & as noisy as
usual. Make my kind regards to M^r Seward
if you please.
