Albany May 24th 1842.
My dear George.
I asked you to pay fifty dollars for me in a certain quarter – On
reflection it will be better I think to pay it in smaller sums. Have the goodness to
pay in specie ten dollars and say to the person that when that is out you have
instruction to pay more and so on. Draw upon me through the Bank at night
for the ten or twenty dollars as may suit your convenience.
Give my love to Frances and believe me
ever faithfully yours,
William H. Seward
