Sunday – Auburn May 29th
My dear Henry,
I hardly know whether it is best to
write to you by Mr Underwood
Albany Florida before he leaves – I am much obliged
to you for the many kind letters you have sent me and am
sorry that any expression despondency should give you
pain – Had I not seen more energetic minds and more
buoyant spirits than mine sink under the
prostrating influence of a continuous nausea I should
consider it an evidence of peculiar weakness – However
I hope soon to be better my accustomed sickness after
an interval of nearly 9 weeks has returned and
though I do not yet experience any great change
I trust a few days will restore my accustomed
health – Willie
he finds so much to amuse him that he is just
forgetting Albany – The quanty of milk he drinks
is quite marvelous – I think he would materially impair

the thrift of a dairy – I do not quite comprehend your
instructions with regard to the cabinet – beside I thought
you intended to have it made at the prison – As you
are coming home so soon I shall leave it until then
unless you think it material – I feel sorry about
the deer but do not well see how you can keep
her – Clara
with the cows, this is doubtful as would be
her safety were she in the vicinity of a town
Abbey
would prefer the Canaries which were more
peculiarly her charge – these must not be
moved at present – I have no doubt that
it is wise to dispose of the horses immediately
if you have decided upon parting with them —
My anxiety about Augustus
by the arrival of a letter yesterday – he deferred
writing until he thought the letter would
reach me at this place – he is well and
contented –

Monday morning – Mr. Underwood goes this
morning – I presume you are by this time in
Orange County – Let me hear from you
as soon as you return I wish wish to write
again before you come home – your own
Frances
