Auburn August 27th 1843.
My dear Augustus,
I have just taken out of the Post office your letter
to your mother
Herein you will find five dollars. You ought to let us know
your wants earlier – so as to have no inconvenience for want of
funds. Your Grandfather
Either Elijah Miller
has gone to Boston
and will call
at West Point on his way home about ten days hence. If you
want more money ask him for it.
We shall go Eastward in two or three weeks and will
then see you. We are all well — Mr Saml. Blatchford
and his sister
Your affectionate father
William H. Seward
