My dear Uncle
I received your kind letter this morning and was
very glad to hear frome home as I did not know but some
one might be sick. I am very much obliged for the
bundle and its content.
I will try hereafter so to regulate my expenses, that they
meet Uncle’s approbation. I know that I must draw
heavily upon Uncle at the pesent commencement of my
Collegiate course, and it would be both unjust and
ungrateful for me to make my expenses more than is
absolutely needful.
I am going some towards the head of the class, and
have strong hopes of passing at the end of the year.
I am at present about (13th) there being twenty seven
in the class. Please give my love to Aunty
and the rest of the family.
Your affectionate
Clarence
To.
