Monday Morning
August 20th
My Dear Brother
I cannot give you
as favorable an account of Fathers
Birth: 1768-12-05 Death: 1849-08-24

health as heretofore. For several
days he has had a severe cough
which seems to exhaust his
strength, he cough a great deal
without raising but very little
Yesterday afternoon his ap-
pearance was very bad, his hands
and feet assumed a purple colour
his eyes were much coloured and
watery, his appetite has been quite
indifferent & and his he was weak
He talked a great deal to him-
self and to different persons and
on a variety of subjects.
His respiration was broken
and msome times difficult, he refuses
often to take his accustomed
stimulants and in less quantities

The Dr
Birth: 1814-07-10 Death: 1902-09-23
has this morning di-
rected to say that his strength
has undergone a great prostration
that there is but one symptom
which is good that of his
pulse which keep good.
His livid and purple ap-
pearance of the hands and feet
have left very much
If there should be any-
thing more definite I should
let you know when it occurs
and will write tomorrow
morning
Sarah
Birth: 1833-06-08 Death: 1891-06-12
has become smart
Yours Sincerely
G W Seward
Tuesday Morning.
Father continues
to grow worse, he has had
a very bad night, very feeble

If it were any other person
I should think that he
would not long survive
the time he has. The Dr
says he baffles all calcu-
lation, he appeared much
better yesterday afternoon
through the night very bad
because cold and suffered
much pain. this morning
he seems much better
and wants to get up
