My Dear Uncle,
I have been asked by some of
my friends here to write to you about the appointment
of Post Master here, as no one of them is personally
acquainted her with you. A Miss Godwin
of Captain General Godwin
in the place of Quin last spring, has applied but
has been reefused, and now her brother HC Godwin
has a petition Signed by a great Many to Send
to Washington for his appointment, he is a Whig
but Only 23 years old and a new resident. There
will be other applicants all Whigs and one
only ought to be appointed and that is Doct
Weller
him think he should be the one, and instead of
that they have tried to run him down altogether
And if you can Do any thing towards his
appointment we will be very glad no Democrat
can be appointed, and therefore let us have a good
Whig, he is Just the Man you can learn who he
is by asking James G King
in Congress. Is Caroline
