Wednesday June 11th – 1851
My dear Henry,
Your Sunday and Monday letters
came together this morning – I am so oppressed
by my increase of cares that I find little
time for writing satisfactorily to any one –
I have been so much relieved since Fred
home that I had almost forgotten how engrossing
my responsibilities had previously been –
We are all well – I received a letter from
Fred yesterday saying he was cordially received
by Judge Kent
studies with him Monday – had taken his
lodgings for the present at the Broadway Hotel –
his meals are to be obtained elsewhere–
He writes in fine spirits – I have had no time
yet to answer his letter – The Blatchfords
came home Saturday – George
are with us yet – Mr Gurnee
night – Polydore
next week – Dr
of Chicago are here – we all took tea at
the Dr's
tomorrow – The masons have left us
but the housecleaning is unfinished and the
garden is overgrown – I will write again
when my head ceases to ache
Your own
Frances
