Monday 8th – Sep –
My dear Henry,
One week passes away
and another cometh without
bringing you any nearer home.
Fred
Tuesday and was admitted –
When I spoke of his going to
Albany I referred to his
going to help in the Journal
office not to practice law –
I kept your letters thinking
you would be home Saturday
Fred sent on some of them
this morning – Our city
has been thronged to day
with visitors to Barnum’s
I have not seen so great
a gathering since the mass

meeting for Gen Taylor
Fanny
I should not have allowed
her to do had I had any
conception of the crowd –
It is reported that two or three
children
the morning was very warm –
Tomorrow I expect George
Frances Grier
be greatly disappointed to hear
you are not at home –
George will go to Syracuse
and return here I suppose
Mary Grier
them – I hear nothing
further from Caroline
I have been expecting her
some days –

The gay portion of the
society here are amu-
sing themselves with
masquerades – I am told
that Mrs Clarence Seward
gives one to night – There
has been two at Blatchfords –
& a fancy Ball at Mr
Barbers – Is not this
a great city? – Walter
Cary
he says Mrs Love
become a monomaniac on
the subject of the Spirits
she fancies herself a medium.
George Andrews
few moments the day after
you left – Love to
Mrs Miller
