Port-Jervis, Novr 28. 1851.
Uncle,
I beg leave to remind you that certain of my
private papers which were put into your hands some two years
since, have never been returned notwithstanding my demands for
them and your virtual promise to Surrender them.
I beg leave to remind you also that your movements
as Executor of the S.S. Seward
in the Spring that they would, in nothing which nears even
the appearance of a settlement with me as an heir to the
estate: and further, that you condescend not to say a word
to me upon the subject – thus treating me as if I were a
child of ten years of age.
My design in this communication is to enter my
temperate but earnest protest against your course of profound
indifference and neglect.
Augustus Seward.
The Honorable
William H. Seward.
Washington.
P.S. My address at present is Port-Jervis, Orange Co, N.Y.
