Albany Dec 2d 1851
My dear Father,
I have obtained from the
Commercial Bank the balance due you $7.21
From the Mechanics & Farmers Bank 3.26
Making a total of 10.47
I enclose you the $10, and remain your
debtor for the .47
I received your note of Sunday
this morning. We are just beginning to get
news of the caucuses. The Democrats seem to
have decidedly the advantage, though I
suppose if the Whigs are to go down with
the Compromise, the sooner it is over, the
better the prospect of a reaction and of
success. We expect the message to day.
I will see that the Journal is

sent to you regularly.
I have heard nothing from my
mother
Very affectionately your son
Frederic W Seward
William H. Seward.
