SAMUEL BLATCHFORD. CLARENCE A. SEWARD.
My dear Aunty
Your letter of the 27th instant was
received this morning. I will instruct Dennis
Birth: 1827

about making the hot-bed. I presume that it is
yet sufficiently early to make it. If I understand
the purpose and nature of a hot bed it is to free
the growth of plants by increased warmth genera-
tive in the first instance by the heat of the sun. If I
am right in my supposition the completion of
the hot bed may be delayed ad infinitium infinitum .
We have had nothing but frozen streets and cloudy
skies, and there is no prospect of a change of scene.
Carrie

and Alice

are both well.
Ever gratefully
Your Nephew
Clarence.
