Auburn July 19th
My dear Son,
I received your letter Sunday
morning. Fred
and left us this morning. He has
a Free ticket on the Rail Road which
enables him to come home often. Your
father
spending a week with us. The time
for the adjournment is not yet fixed
but will probably be before September
I am rather uncertain whether I shall
go to Washington before the adjournment
If we keep the same house another season
I think I shall not go - but I shall
go in September to Vermont. Aunty
Worden
too I think. I hope we shall see
you here before that time. I want

to consult you on two or three subjects.
I wish you could be at the North
during the hot seasons. I am very
glad to hear you have no return of
chills. You have seen the death of
Adjutant General Jones
is admitted that he died of cholera.
Gen Scott
of the Battle of Lundy's Lane at Niagara
the 27th of this month. The Gen has
I supposed a fair prospect for an election.
The Newspapers are filled with political

I like the appearance of Frank much.
He has been to Washington and has I think
some appointment in the Navy but for
the present he is employed in the Novelty
Works in New York. He was here only
one day. Caroline has finished her
school education and her home for
the future will be much of the time
with us. She & Sarah
Washington this Winter.
Aunt Clara is well. We all went
up to the lake Saturday. Amanda
a daughter of Ezra Schooley
present as a companion for Fanny
is nine years old, but no larger than
Fanny. William
he has been engaged in building a rabbit
pen the last 2 days. Did I write in
my last that I sent your letter to
the Quarter Master General
