My dear Son,
I am very sorry
that there is not a
copy of Stansburrys
left– Clarence
for one last week
but we had none
for him– You do
not say when you
expect to come down.
I hear nothing positive
from Aunty
when she wrote last
She said she should
come– it is a week
since I have heard
from her–
[bottom Margin] The children Page

I have not seen Lieut
Hunt
told me he was
a brother of Gov. Hunt
When I returned
Mrs Hunts
she was not at home–
Gov Scott dined
with us Wednesday
he looks well &
seems in good spirits.
It is decided that
Fred
the Journal– perhaps
Mr Schoolcraft
told you this–
Your Father & I went
with Carrie
President's
Friday evening
Page

it is the only
evening party I
have attended–
I shall avoid all
that I can as my
health will not justify
^me in going^ it– We have company
to dinner frequently
have had a number
of small and one
large dinner party–
The visits of the
Nicaraguan Minister
have ceased– that
flirtation is concluded–
Carrie is very much
more reserved since
Mr Schoolcraft
become her adviser–

Willie's
stronger– although his
aversion to study contin
ues, he reads a
great deal of trash–
silly novels, which
if they are not positively
detrimental to the
morals certainly do
not strengthen the mind.
I hope for an improvement
in his taste in this
respect– Do not fail
to give Aunty timely
notice when you are
coming– How do you
bear the cold weather? –
it does not freeze here
though we have a little
snow– God bless you–
your Mother
