My dear Son,
I received yours of the
22 d Dec – two days ago – am glad
to hear of your safe arrival at
Key West – when you are on the
ocean I am troubled with every
wind that blows – Fred
Birth: 1830-07-08 Death: 1915-04-25
says
you looked well when at Washington –
He and Anna
Birth: 1834-03-29 Death: 1919-05-02
are yet there –
Your Father
Birth: 1801-05-16 Death: 1872-10-10
is still detained
in New York by his law suit –
I believe he expects to go back
to day or Monday – Frederick will
come to Albany as soon as
your Father returns – Mr

The Legislature have convened –
the Governors
Birth: 1806-10-23 Death: 1892-08-23
message has appeared –
it is generally satisfactory – all
things seem to be going on
in conformity to the wishes of friends –
Very little has been done in Congress
the last two weeks – The holidays
being over I suppose business will
commence more earnestly –
Our fine sleighing which has
lasted nearly a month is about
gone for the present though the
skies give promise of more snow –
We have had some very cold
days but on the whole a pleasant
winter – my health is so much
improved that I enjoy it –
I have been three times for
a drive with Willie
Birth: 1839-06-18 Death: 1920-04-29
—
Fred writes that he and Anna
are enjoying their time at
Washington – his last letter
was written the day after
New Years – He writes an
amusing letter for the Journal
describing the day at Washington
The gay season will now com-
mence – I hope he may stay
a week longer on Anna's account
