Auburn May 7th
Thursday
My dear Son,
I was very glad
to see a letter from you
this morning—to feel that
you were well and to
know that you had fixed
upon your lodgings though
I would prefer having
you nearer the ground than
the 5 th story—Where is the
Franklin house?—how far
from your store—
We have had two dolorous
days since you left to day
we all feel a little more
cheerful as the sun
is shining and we are
getting more used to be alone—
Father
Birth: 1801-05-16 Death: 1872-10-10
sleeps in your bed
but your room seems deserted
during the day — Aunty
Birth: 1803-11-01 Death: 1875-10-03
con-
soles me by forming plans for
your return and final
settlement here — I hope
they may be realized —
She says she met Jenny
Birth: 1839-11-18 Death: 1913-11-09
in
the street yesterday, going
to her sisters
Birth: 1834-03-20
Death: 1892-02-25 Certainty: Probable
Birth: 1832-04-27
Death: 1903-12-20 Certainty: Probable
would come and see me—
Aunty has been to Pisgah
this morning — she waited
2 hours to have Mr Barnes
Birth: 1824 Death: 1867
fulfill an engagement to
come and put up her stove
but he did not come—
this afternoon she goes to the
Baldwin & Co store—Father
has rode f Fanny
Death: 1860
up to Pisgah
the roads are horrible since
the last rains — I have
set the gardener
Unknown
to work
above the water in the
garden — The work on the
inside of the house is waiting
for the glass which I
believe has come —
Aunt Clara
Birth: 1793-05-01 Death: 1862-09-05
& Mr McClallen
Birth: 1791-09-07 Death: 1860-11-16
came up and played whist
last evening—
Fanny
Birth: 1844-12-09 Death: 1866-10-29
sends “heaps” of love
and says she is going to
write tomorrow —
We miss you morning
noon and night —
May God bless & keep you
Mother —
Aunty sends love — she is sure
you did not forget to bid her good
bye
