My dear Son,
Fanny
card among your Fathers
ours also so I should not be quite sure
this was yours – Your Fathers is is addressed
as the Honorable Wm. H. Seward – Lord
Napier
he to Fanny "you could not keep your brother
to the ball" – The ball was made
brilliant by the whole diplomatic corps
appearing in court costume – 300 invitations
only were given – while there was many
more than that number of applications
not complied with – I was sick
yesterday and while confined to my room
& just as th a dinner party were summoned
to the table Mr
expected them the evening previous – I am
glad to be able to be with them to day –
They have gone this morning to the Capitol –
I think will remain here until next
week – Father has written again for
Anna
yet –

well – busy with our house & Pisgah
I find that I have a number of letters to
write so I will make this a short one –
I send Mr. Viele's
The books I will attend to when I
feel a little stronger – Fanny
sends love – the Mellens were
sorry you had left –
