Friday -
My dear Sister
I write a few lines
today to assure you that
Fanny
that she is reading in bed -
her throat did not supperate
and her fever is now
slight. Dr Jayne
us today - I wish he
would stay as long as Mary
who remains until Monday
going then with Frances
& her husband
dinner passed off satisfactorily[ . ]
Reason:
Lady Napier
me - except our cousins I
saw none of the guests who
I believe were of the elite[ . ]
Reason:
At half past 10 they all

person Aunty is in a
sick room - isn’t she?

went to Mrs Douglas
party which was a
jam though Will
a place was found for
dancing which he did
with his hat in his
hand, looking rather handsome
at the time I fancy.
They did not get home
until nearly 2 oclock.
(poor old Nicholas
Today the Scharffs dine
at the Presidents
and Henry
and in the evening all
go to a 'hop' at Willards
so it goes. Fanny and
I have a quiet time of
our own in the 3 story. It is
Annas reception day. I
have amused myself some
of the time by watching
the carriages & their occupants

which are constantly
driving up and driving
away. Sartiges
just come in a Stanhope
driving himself with a tiger
behind - has thrown off
a cloak lined with purple
silk, thrown the lines to
the tiger, and gone into
the house to be agreeable
to the ladies. Tomorrow
the dinner & evening party
are at his house.
I have had a letter
from Frances
been sick, which I will
answer today - it
was written previous to your
last, when she was recovering
from her illness.
I will write more tomorrow
Love to Clara
to her Wednesday.
