Auburn Jan 27
Sunday
My dearest Henry
Fanny
came from Albany last
evening after a pleasant
visit of two days — Aunt
Clara
enjoying the jaunt much.
I some hoped we
might meet you in
Albany until I saw
Mr Weed
he had a letter 2
days later than mine

which gave little encourage-
ment about coming —
Fred
not leave the Senate
at this time — The
letters we find here from
you corroborate these
opinions — so we may
not look for you just
now — Fred goes
to Washington tomorrow
I shall be glad to think
him with you —
William
to night in order to
see Fred before he
leaves — The sun
is melting the snow

though the sleighing is
fine yet –
I have a letter from
Augustus
He says they are hoping
to make a treaty of
peace with the Navajos’,
I hope they may —
May God guide
you — your own
Frances —
