My dear Father
The last Chautauqua state-
ment was as follows, Principal 47 76⁄100 Interest $29198⁄100
in all $339 74⁄100.
I believe I have paid all the bills with
the exception of Choates
this I will pay during February as they are in
no hurry for the money befor[ e ]
Reason: the last of that
month
I have paid Stalker
since I last wrote. The Bank Act is now
about even, On the first of February there will be
interest & rents due to about the amt of $400 or
over, should you wish to make any drafts from
Washington and there is not money enough to carry
us through I can get the first Rhoades
(amt $250. two mts yet to run)
I will pay the rent to Maj Clark
on the 15th next month

I am goingto N.York tomorrow to make

has just been tendered by the Directors of the Oswego Starch Factory the position
of chief clerk and manager of the affairs
of the Company in N York, he has however
declined the offer and the $2000 salary, preferring
to wait until such time as it shall be prudent
for us to commence for ourselves.
