Thursday Aug 1st–
My dear Henry
I have your
letter of Monday
on Tuesday – Don’t
send for Fanny
Birth: 1844-12-09 Death: 1866-10-29
now She has gone to
Rochester and will
be in Canandaigua
next week– I
think it better
for her to remain
at home even when
she does return
for at least a
month or two– but
I will leave it to
her decision –
Mrs. Masse
Birth: 1828
wished to know whether
she would want
a room in their
family this winter
but perhaps an
immediate answer
is less material
than she supposes.
I hoped you might
come home as
very little can
be accomplished
understandably or
satisfactorily by
writing– I have
been sick a week
and find it difficult
now to guide my
pen as you will
see– am better
today– going
out to drive–
May God preserve
you all
Your own
Frances–
