My dear Son
The Peales have
been with us since
Friday morning and
seem to enjoy their
visit, though the
visit to the Lake
was not in sunshine.
They leave tomorrow
morning – I have
written to Anna
her fathers
I have no answer
I presume the letter
was some time
[top Margin] Later
I have a
letter from Anna
who says she leaves
for N.Y. the 21 – –
Fanny will
join her at
Albany the
same day
I will
write to Anna

getting to her –
Fanny
with her when she
goes back to Washington.
Mr Peale has attempted
sketches of the interior
of the house but I
fear an obscured sky
will prevent success
The garden and grounds
are still so pretty
that I would like
to have you see
them, also to see
Pisgah before the
frost comes to mar
their beauties.
Aunty
for two or three days

past – I shall stay
with her when
Fanny is gone.
Will
agement about a visit
home but is by no
means sure of coming –
I would write to
Augustus
did I know his address.
Jenny
are with Mrs Watson
who has just returned
from Lake Superior.
I hope your Father
keeps well and has
not yet exhausted
the strength he

gained by his jaunt –
Aunt Serene
me an imploring letter
about a plan for her
son
says she is dependent
for support – He
has tried to get a
place in the medical
corps, but without
success. I hope
you all feel as much
encouraged about the
termination of the war
as we do – that events
may justify such
anticipations – God
bless you
Mother –
[bottom Margin] Fanny's things came safely.
