My dearest Frances,
Your letters about William
Birth: 1839-06-18 Death: 1920-04-29
alarm me very much, and all the
more because I see that I erred in
suffering him to leave Washington before
his convalescence was established.
I am hereby expecting and fearing
a telegraphic dispatch, I hope if it
is necessary it will not be spared,
I shall not hesitate to leave every
thing here and proceed at once —
So far as public affairs are
concerned every thing seems going on very
well – the newspapers as usual abuse
the public civility and public without
compunction or the sympathies and
fears of ^the friends of^ those who are exposed to
danger.
Fanny
Birth: 1844-12-09 Death: 1866-10-29
seems verywell.
Your own Henry.
