Sunday 12th
My dear Father,
We are much
relieved this morning by receiving
your telegram about Fanny
Birth: 1844-12-09 Death: 1866-10-29
and
glad to know that you are at home,
with some respite from heat and
work. I have your letters of
Thursday, with the time schedule
of the Chicago journey.
The papers today contain the
proceedings of the Saratoga Convention
which seem to be eminently sound
& judicious, and strong in names
of representative men. If the
Philadelphia Convention at all
resembles it, it cannot fail to
be a success.
Affectionately yours,
F.W.S.
