This letter was copied by Lazette Miller Worden for Augustus
Henry Seward and was included in letter from Lazette Miller Worden to Augustus Worden, March 22, 1871Olive's Letter
My dear Aunty
I hope for time – more time
to write you a good long letter - but so far Hattie
has been obliged to write all my letters to my father
Mr. Seward
have written better but for the motion of
the boat – He constantly takes notes of the
journey and that consumes all the time I have
Page

I need not say how happy we were to hear
of your good health – We have travelled
19,672 miles already, and it is rather hard
work – as instructive and interesting as it is –
I can hardly wait for the time to come that
will bring me again to my own country –
We hope for letters at or Madras
We have not heard a word from home since
we arrived in Asia – I never imagined
that I could learn as much as I have
during this journey – I am in the most beau-
tiful spot on earth - //A perfect garden &
the passage through the Indian Ocean
is a dream of tranquility – Give my
love to all the friends and believe me
Yours alway – Olive –
