Biography

Laura Esther Watrous was the daughter of Ralph Isham and Laura Worthington Isham. She married John Lucian Watrous in October of 1824, and they had two children together: John Richard Watrous, and Anna P. Watrous. Laura and her family lived in Colchester, CT, where she was born, until at least 1835, but an 1850 census record shows them living in Auburn, NY. They appear to have stayed in Auburn for the remainder of their lives, as John Watrous' grave is in the Fort Hill Cemetery (a grave for Laura has not been identified). While living in Auburn, Laura appears to have been a friend of Frances' and we have letters from Laura to Frances in our collection.
