Birth: 1813
Death: unknown
Birth Date Prefix: about
Death Date Prefix:
RelationshipsBiography
Hollis White was a close family friend and political supporter of Seward. It seems that White was adopted by Samuel P. Goodridge, who had him baptized in 1818. This could account somewhat for the lack of precision of dates. By 1847, he was the proprietor of the Eagle Hotel in Niagara Falls. He served as a New York Assemblyman in 1849 and later was associated with the banking and exchange firm of Riddle & Co., Niagara Falls. White was married to Agnes Sykes in Washington, D.C. in 1864 and the Commercial Advertiser reports on November 26, 1869 that Mr. White had moved to Sioux City with her. Their child was Frank Hollis White. Agnes died in Buffalo in 1906 as a widow, so White must have died before 1906, though no documentation was found.
