Biography

George Wallace Jones was elected as a Delegate from Michigan Territory to the 24th Congress and Served from 1835 until the Territory of Wisconsin was formed from a portion of Michigan Territory. He served as a Delegate of the Territory of Wisconsin until 1839. In 1848 he was elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate as one of the first Senators from the State of Iowa, He was arrested by Secretary William Seward on the charge of disloyalty, based on his correspondence with Jefferson Davis. He died on July 22, 1896, in Iowa.
